Our guide should be in Italian, it was the only one available when I booked. However, our guide also speeks English and this change that she did in the last minute was awesome (my husband and I we are Brazilian, we don't speek Italian but we speek English). It saved our tour. Besides that, she had great sense of humour and gave us a lot of information about Pisa and all the monuments. We rlhqd a great tome with her!!!

The explanation of the guide was excellent, my daughter learned many things, I could not do the tour because I had an accident in Rome and could not move, I understand that I could not support me, neither you nor in Italy, it seems that they are prepared to assist a person because they do not have services and being a Sunday and in high season because they were too busy but I was close and I could hear the explanations of the guide, I hope in the future to make the visit.

Everything worked well. There was supposed to be a ticket redemption point between the Baptistery and the cathedral. As there wasn't one, we went straight to the entrance of the cathedral with our online ticket and got in without any problems. We found this information a little confusing. The monumental complex is very interesting and very impressive.

Healdout allowed me to purchase the same day with a bit of a discount, let's just say that it's inconceivable that children pay the same price as adults..(abroad children don't pay to enter museums..)in Italy in addition to paying to see our beauties we still had to queue at the entrance and make do with the bags that couldn't get in...the monument is worth it but everything else is a bit of a disincentive

We had some trouble finding parking and navigating that so we were a few minutes late to the steps, and the gentleman let us right in at the front of the line, which was so nice! What a beautiful property, totally amazed at the Pisa tower and also the fallen angel statue.

I appreciated the ease of purchasing tickets. The speed of access to the Tower with electronic tickets. As a reminder, you cannot bring items other than water and cell phone. They can be left at the checkroom. Going up the Tower of Pisa is always exciting and the view from the top is magical.

Well organised. Make sure you are good with odd angles as you certainly feel the lean when on narrow winding stairs. There is a strict no bags policy, including small handbags, no exceptions but there is a free locker room nearby run by helpful attendants.

Unique experience, we had a great time and especially also the visit to the tower super punctual as time and we didn't even queue all that much. As a price super cheap and 100% worth it

That with the generated code I was able to enter everything. I didn't have to redeem anything or look for anyone. That made everything easier. Even with that QR you can enter the bathroom and the locker where they ask you to leave your belongings.

When I checked the website, it mentioned that only children above the age of 8 can climb the tower. When buying the tickets via Headout, it stated that only 11-99 requires a ticket. My child is 9-year-old. Hence, I only bought two tickets, one for me and the other for my wife. I emailed the headout support team to confirm whether or not my child would need a ticket. I was informed that my child didn't need one. When I got there, it turned out that anyone climbing the tower will need a ticket if they are 8 and above.

We don't think it's OK if the ticket only allows a free visit to the toilet. After all, there is so much to see with the ticket that you can spend the whole day there. And I don't know anyone who only has to go to the toilet once a day. The friendliness of the staff is very poor.

Loved going up the leaning tower. Views were amazing. Museums were ok. Not really my thing but there were some interesting historical information. The main buildings I really wanted visit was the cathedral & Baptistery, but sadly they were not open to the public that day as there was a religious ceremony taking place. Shame as I had paid the full amount to visit all 6 buildings which is quite expensive to only be able to visit 4 of these.

It's an iconic trip but you need to leave bags in lockers away from the entrance to the tower. This wasn't clear so we wasted time taking bags to the lockets and had to requeue. The steps inside the tower are incredibly slippery. No handrails so I wouldn't recommend this trip if you have mobility issues

Cathedral tour not accessible on Sundays. Should be mentioned or included another alternative. Audio tour was tough to figure out how to download and effectively use. Lots of battery used.

The booked access was only available after a short wait. Unfortunately, the meeting point was incorrectly marked; without asking, we would have missed our slot.

Frequently asked questions about Leaning Tower guided tours

What are the qualifications of my guide?

All guides for Leaning Tower of Pisa tours are licensed professionals, often with backgrounds in art history, archaeology, or local Tuscan history. They are experts in the monumental complex and are fluent in multiple languages.

How in-depth does the tour go into the art history of the pieces?

The depth of art history covered varies by tour type. Standard tours provide an overview of major artworks and their historical context. Smaller group or private tours often allow for more detailed discussions, delving into artistic techniques, symbolism, and lesser-known facts, tailored to the group's interests.

Do I have to be fluent in Italian to take the guided tour?

No, Leaning Tower of Pisa guided tours are available in a variety of languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian. You can select your preferred language when booking to ensure a comfortable and informative experience.

Why are guided tours expensive?

Guided tours offer an enhanced experience beyond basic entry. The cost reflects skip-the-line access, saving valuable time; the expertise of a licensed guide who brings history and art to life; curated itineraries ensuring you see the most important sights; and often smaller group sizes for a more personal interaction.

What happens if I’m late?

If you arrive a few minutes late for a group tour, the group may not be able to wait, and you might forfeit your spot. It's best to arrive at least 15 minutes early to ensure a smooth start.

How much walking is involved?

Expect a significant amount of walking during a guided tour of the Piazza dei Miracoli, covering the extensive grounds and entering multiple monuments. Climbing the Leaning Tower involves ascending approximately 273 steps, which can be challenging.

Are audio headsets provided?

For larger group tours (often exceeding 6 participants), audio headsets are typically provided to ensure you can clearly hear your guide's commentary even in crowded areas.

Is the tour suitable for kids?

Yes, a guided tour can be engaging for children, especially older ones who can appreciate the history and stories. Some guides can tailor their explanations to be more kid-friendly. However, due to the duration (1.5-3 hours) and the climbing requirement for the tower, it might not be ideal for very young children. Children under 8 are strictly prohibited from climbing the Leaning Tower.
